For the action part of the project, our group decided to have a fundraiser, with the proceeds going to Tanzania Development Support. We decided to do this because it was the easiest way for us to help TDS. Our partner, Sandra Dawson, helped us come up with the idea and supported our decision. Our fundraiser was not as successful as we hoped it would be, but we did raise some money and awareness for TDS. If you are interested in helping TDS, you can visit their website (http://tdsnfp.org/) for more information, or you can hold your own fundraiser!
Our Group held a fundraiser to raise money to support TDS for Tanzania. It was held at Northern Illinois University inside Dusable, a building on the campus. We made brownies and sold them for at least a dollar a piece.
-A fundraiser was the perfect action for this particular cause because Tanzania is a poor country and is lacking enough money to put everyone through school. It was our way of helping TDS raise some money to contribute to the education for Tanzanians.
-Our c/c partner helped us come up with the idea of a fundraiser and collected the money we raised. She was very knowledgeable of the topic and informed us very well about it.

-The fundraiser was not as successful as we wanted it to be. We made around 26 dollars, however we were tabling for only 3 hours on one day, so if we extended the time period or the number of days, I think we would have made more. Our c/c partner was very pleased with the amount we made because every penny counts!
-Fundraisers are a very good way to help out countries in need, such as Tanzania. It helps contribute to supplies needed for education and building another library. Students from NIU went out to Tanzania and helped build the foundation for a library there. There is a study abroad program where students from NIU can help out in Tanzania.
Hosting a fundraiser is a great idea to help out the country, however consider extending the amount of days to host the fundraiser because more money will be raised.
If you want to provide support, you can also visit the TDS website for suggestions. ----> http://tdsnfp.org/
-Everyone in the group felt great to be a part of such a great cause. We felt as though we contributed to the problem, even though we did not raise as much money as we hoped. If more people fundraise and raise awareness, more money can be made to help Tanzania and eventually provide and education to anyone who seeks it.

IMPORTANCE TO WOMENS STUDIES
Women in Tanzania usually drop out of school around the age of 15 because they eventually get married and leave their own family behind, while the men stay to contribute and help their own family, so women's education is seen as less significant.
- Many women also end up pregnant at an early age and are forced to drop out of school.
- Many children walk miles to get fresh water for the family, which is why NIU held a water walk to raise awareness about how difficult it is to complete the task.
-If more women received an education, it would contribute to a healthier lifestyle for them and their family. It would also help the country.
